Surface Technology achieves hat trick of standards with OHSAS 18001 accreditation
World-leading supplier of high performance surface treatments, Surface Technology, has been awarded the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Specification (OHSAS) 18001 certificate for the Health and Safety management systems at its Leeds, East Kilbride and Irvine sites.
Part of Norman Hay plc, Surface Technology has previously been recognised with the ISO 14001 environmental management standard and the ISO 9001 quality management standard. The addition of OHSAS 18001 shows safer working conditions and improved performance across Surface Technology. The OHSAS 18001 standard is an internationally accepted method used to assess and audit occupational health and safety management systems and, was awarded following an assessment by the government-backed accreditation service, National Quality Assurance (NQA). Developed by the leading trade and international standards bodies, OHSAS 18001 identifies and manages occupational health and safety risks and hazards ensuring a safe working environment resulting in a reduction of time lost through employee illness and injury. The assessment process includes staff training and awareness, communication of safety management systems and response to emergency situations.
